If you are staying with us, hardly a day goes by without you being able to take part in one of the numerous events in Brixen. In spring, white wine meets white mountains. In summer things get sporty, in autumn it's all about rustic pleasure and in winter the Christmas market awakens emotions from days gone bye. Take a look at the most beautiful and most popular events in Brixen and look forward to your own wow moments in the episcopal town.
The lights of the town sparkle in the valley, silence reigns on the mountain. During the Plose Nights, which take place every Friday from January to March, the Plose cable car runs until 11 pm. Then you have the opportunity to hike to one of the mountain huts in the moonlight or go down the floodlit RudiRun toboggan run. Unforgettable!
January - beginning of March
How do snow and wine go together? Wonderfully well actually! As part of the “Snow and Wine” event series, sommeliers or winemakers accompany you on guided wine tours on the Plose or to the alpine pastures of Villnöss, Villanders and Gitschberg-Jochtal. You can enjoy Eisacktal white wines with culinary delicacies and a view of the snowy landscape from the alpine huts.
March
The Water Light Festival is one of the most popular events in Brixen. Light artists from all over the world transform the town into a sea of lights in the evenings. There are also fantastic light installations to admire throughout the old town. A trail guides visitors through the festival, which also addresses ecological, economic and social aspects relating to water and light.
Mid May
Mountains move us. From mid to late May, a series of events is dedicated to the rocky giants. Experience the sunrise from the summit, visit the mountain farmers or hike through the wild Rienzschlucht gorge: a packed outdoor programme invites you to explore and experience the mountains in a new light.
Mid - end of May
Every Wednesday evening in July and August, Brixen is bustling with music, food stalls and entertainment all around. Wine lovers enjoy their summer evenings at food and wine events in Brixen, such as "Dine, Wine & Music" on the cathedral square or "Treffpunkt Wein", where Eisacktal valley winegrowers serve their white wines. The annual Street Food Festival in the Rappanlagen is also popular with gourmets.
July – August
The Mountain Bike Testival is a much-attended event in Brixen and the meeting point for mountain bikers. You can look forward to guided bike tours, test rides with the latest bikes and an exciting programme for professional bikers and passionate amateurs.
End of September
Have you ever nibbled on an original South Tyrolean Schüttelbrot? Or bitten into an aromatic Paarl bread? You can taste South Tyrolean bread specialities at the Brixen bread and strudel market. The scent of fresh Schüttelbrot, Pusterer Breatl and Vinschger Paarl fills the air the cathedral square. Which one tastes best?
Early October
No autumn without Törggelen: The South Tyrolean culinary tradition is a must for locals and guests alike. It has its origins in the Eisacktal valley and many Törggele locations can be hiked to from our residence. In the farms and taverns, the farmers serve home-made specialities from Schlutzer to Sauerkraut, accompanied by fresh apple juice and new wine.
September - end of November
Christmas joy and the smell of cinnamon are in the air at the Brixen Christkindlmarkt. The cathedral square is festively decorated and the stalls and a festive programme welcome you to the Christmas season. A light show in the Hofburg courtyard enchants young and old alike. You can get to the Christmas market in just a few minutes on foot or by bike: Let yourself be enchanted!
