What are we going to do today?
MUST-DOS ON A FAMILY HOLIDAY IN BRIXEN.
There are things that you have to experience on a family holiday in Brixen. A hike to the Rossalm, for example - or a toboggan race back towards the valley. A whole (free) day of swimming in the Acquarena. Or a little journey through time at Schloss Rodenegg castle. No matter when you visit us in South Tyrol: a family holiday in Brixen is as colourful as spring and autumn, as cool as winter and as light as a summer's day.
Pack your rucksack, lace up your shoes and go for a walk – or hop on a free rental bike? There are all sorts of hiking and cycling trails to explore on a family holiday in Brixen. Even those who don't like hiking can get moving on the Woody Walk with wooden toys, water features and a forest telephone. It leads from the Plose mountain station to the Rossalm. Older children can ride the Plose Mountain carts. The alpine areas of Villnöss, Villanders and Rodengo also have plenty to offer in terms of excursions and experiences, for the whole family!
Our recommendation: With the BrixenCard you can use the gondola to go to the Plose free of charge as Nives guests.
The outdoor activities in and around Brixen offer fresh air and plenty of variety. The new summer toboggan run on the Plose takes you downhill, while the Vertikale climbing centre lets you reach for the sky. The climbing and bouldering paradise may be inside, but thanks to the glass façade it still feels like the great outdoors. Other family highlights await at the Lido Brixen: There is a petting zoo and an outdoor playground for visitors both big and small.
There is no shortage of adventure options on a family holiday in Brixen. Culture for kids can be found at Schloss Rodenegg castle, among other places. Just like in a fairy tale, children become knights and damsels on a family tour. After the heights of the castle tower you can then go into the deep mine tunnels in Ridnaun: There, visitors slip into real miners' gear as part of a hands-on tour for children aged 4 and over. Would you rather put on an apron and rubber boots? Then the farm tour with Evelyn at the Kassinghof farm in Vahrn is just for you. In summer, it can be booked at a special price with the BrixenCard.
Whether it's sunny, raining, stormy or snowing, the Acquarena is always open to you. With our AcquarenaCard, you enjoy free entry to the adventure pool, just a few steps from our apartments in Brixen. In summer you can slide, splash and have a good time on the playground. In bad weather and when it gets cooler, the indoor swimming pool with children's pool, slides and pool with lazy river keeps you warm. Every day is different at Acquarena, but one thing is certain: you will have the time of your life!
In winter, the cable car takes you up the Plose free of charge with the BrixenCard (one ascent and descent per person per day). And that really has it all! You can try your first turns on the children's practice slope in the ski area and have a go on the wide family pistes. If you prefer to feel the fresh wind on a toboggan, you can hike up to the Rossalm with your children and whizz back down into the valley. From skis and helmets to toboggans with children's backrest, you can rent all the equipment at the Plosebahn valley station. You can also find free rental toboggans at reception.
